Welcome to Beardtastic Recipes Traffic Report for March!
If you recall, last month’s report showed a massive jump in traffic driven by the Super Bowl. Sadly, I can’t say the same for this month.
With a massive drop from 4455 to 946 pageviews, It was quite apparent this month lacked a traffic bump from a nationally televised food driven sporting event. You may notice there were two days with zero pageviews which seemed quite odd to me. After making sure the website was still up and running properly, I had a friend go to the site and that is when I realized Google Analytics was not working properly and it wasn’t just a lack of traffic.
The problem was I was relying on a 3rd party plugin called “Google Analytics” to handle the tracking code and an update to the plugin broke my Google Analytics traffic. To fix this I decided to take the time to learn how to add the tracking code manually which was accomplished in less than an hour. Moral of the story? Don’t just blindly rely on a plugin to handle something that can be easily done yourself.
Pinterest is still the main source of traffic by a large margin but I still feel there are ways I can improve my Pinterest presence. I will also start dedicating some time looking into ways of improving the sites SEO, so more traffic can be driven from Google searches. I’m eager to see if next month will show an improved growth in traffic!
